Love Food Hate Waste is here to help us all make the most of the food we love. By rethinking how we shop, using up what we buy, storing foods differently and getting creative with leftover ingredients, together we can make a big difference.

Scottish households throw away 600,000 tonnes of food every year, over two thirds of which is good food that could have been saved from the bin if it had been planned, stored and managed better. This food waste costs Scotland over £1 billion – that’s the equivalent of £460 per household each year, rising to £700 each year for a family of four. Turning less food into rubbish can also make a real difference to the world around us, as food waste is a major contributor to climate change.

Collaborating with award-winning Chef Neil Forbes of Café St Honore, Love Food Hate Waste will be at the Foodie Lab at this year’s Eat and Drink Festival Glasgow. Neil will be demonstrating creative recipe ideas and top tips to minimise food waste, helping visitors to ‘do their bit’, which in this case, is as simple as keeping food out of the bin. We look forward to seeing you there!
